November 6, 2020
I’ve had to laugh at some of the tweets going around this week:

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely feeling a little . . . frazzled.
And it’s not just this week. With so much uncertainty—around the election, the pandemic, the economy—it’s easy to lose focus and even hope.
But I want to tell you why, amid all the turmoil of 2020, I’m more optimistic than I’ve ever been. Seriously.
Yes, Wyoming is facing an existential budget crisis. Yes, the legislature remains unwilling to face our most pressing challenges: ensuring schools can keep being funded, ensuring the people of Wyoming have access to healthcare, investing in our local communities so future generations can thrive here.
But something kind of incredible is happening at the same time. More people are stepping up. Even in this wildly challenging year, more Wyomingites are looking around and saying: we can solve these problems. And it’s these people—people like you—who are giving me hope.
As ESPC has worked toward our vision for a future in which all Wyomingites can thrive, you have been with us every step of the way.
Volunteering your time to get out the vote. Digging into the issues facing our state by coming to our People’s Review: LIVE! series. Attending trainings to learn how to make your voice heard with elected officials—or, better yet, how to become one yourself. Giving what you can to support ESPC’s work. I can’t overemphasize how much all of this matters.
This kind of civic engagement—your deep commitment to showing up for your neighbors day after day—is what will get us through these tough times. I truly believe that. And I hope you do, too.
So thank you! And onward!

Chris Merrill, Executive Director
P.S. Now is a great time to make a monthly or one-time donation to ESPC? Thank you!
