The General Election is Tuesday, November 3rd! There is an unprecedented interest in voting at the same time there is a public health emergency. You can still vote safely in Wyoming this election.
1. CHECK THAT YOUR REGISTRATION IS UP-TO-DATE
You’ll want to make sure that you are still registered to vote. Wyoming purges the voter lists after every general election, so don’t assume anything.
Fortunately, Wyoming has same-day voter registration which means you can register at your polling place on Election Day. Click here to find out what you need to bring to register to vote.
2. FIND YOUR POLLING PLACE
Voting on Election Day means voting in person at your polling place. How do you find your polling place? Check this easy feature on the Secretary of State’s website. Or you can call your County Clerk to find out where your polling place is.
Then make a plan to get there! Need a ride? Need assistance at the polls? Want to know what cleaning and masking requirements they have in place? Here are some handy answers. And your County Clerk can help you with these questions, too.
3. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
As a voter, you have rights. The ACLU has a helpful guide to know what you can and can’t be asked at your polling place and to give you more information about what is and isn’t allowed at the polling place. Electioneering and voter intimidation are strictly prohibited by Wyoming Statute. If you see or experience either one, your polling officials are trained to address them.
4. SPREAD THE WORD
Once you’re all set, help your friends with their election prep:
- If you already voted you can:
- Help friends and family get to the polls on November 3rd!
- Post a picture on social media of yourself with your “I Voted” sticker and encourage your friends to do the same.
- If you know someone who will turn 18 before November 3, help them register.
- If you know someone who has moved recently or didn’t vote in the primary, remind them to update their registration.
- And, if you already have an absentee ballot, drive it to your County Clerk’s office and put it in the drop box. Ballots in Wyoming have to be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.
And remind people in your networks that running a secure election during a global pandemic takes time. We might need to wait for the results, but we can rest assured that is because our hard-working officials are verifying every vote.
