The Equality State Policy Center celebrated Election Hero Day on November 4th, 2024 by encouraging Wyomingites to join us in thanking our Election Heroes. Our Election Heroes are those who helped you register to vote, conducted machine audits, printed ballots, processed your absentee ballot, directed you to the correct line at the polls, handed you your ballot, tracked that ballot, and gave you that “I voted” sticker signaling you took part in our democracy.
Free and fair elections are only possible through the dedication of individuals behind the scenes—our election workers. Across Wyoming, these tireless professionals ensure that every eligible voter can participate in democracy with trust and confidence. Even with long early vote lines at courthouses and at poll places during a well attended election, our election workers maintained a steady and sure pace of facilitating this election.
To every county clerk, poll worker, canvassing board member, and volunteer: thank you. Whether you managed polling locations, assisted voters with questions, or performed post-election audits, your efforts sustain the integrity of our elections and strengthen our communities. Your work often goes unnoticed, but it’s vital—and in the aftermath of a busy and volatile election, we celebrate you.
We also extend our gratitude to the Secretary of State’s Office for what we’ve heard were well-prepared and effective training materials for election workers. Thorough training is essential for smooth election operations, and it’s clear that this year’s preparations paid off.
This Election Hero Day, letters of appreciation were sent to County Clerks by over 70 voters across the state, highlighting the widespread support for our election workers.
The success of elections isn’t just measured in ballots counted or who won or lost—it’s in the trust that voters have in the process. That trust is earned by people who offer their time, working long hours to run the General Election with care and dedication.
It can be easily summed up with a voter’s thank you from Laramie County, “[t]hank you for your service, your integrity and fairness, and for playing a crucially important role in our democracy! It doesn’t go unnoticed nor unappreciated.”
