Take Action
One of ESPC’s main goals is to help Wyoming citizens become more involved in the discussions that influence our public officials’ policy decisions. We want YOU to make your voice heard in these discussions. Information and materials are now available on our web site to assist you in your efforts.
It’s actually pretty easy for you to make a difference. The first step is to get to know what the core issues are and get some background. We’ve prepared one- and two-page Fact Sheets (the links are on the left side of this page) on issues that are critical right now. You can use them yourself, and you can easily email or give them to others.
The second step is to contact decision makers. The Fact Sheets have information on how you can participate in the decision-making process for each issue area. In addition, there’s a How to Contact Your Legislator sheet, along with links for State Senators, Representatives, the Governor’s Office, and other officials. Just click on the Contact Your Elected Official link at the left to get this information and download the documents.
A third step is to help educate and mobilize others. One way to do this is by writing a Letter to the Editor of your local or a statewide newspaper. We’ve put together a Letter to the Editor Kit that you can download, with tips on how to write the most effective letters on issues that are important to you and your community. Just click on the link at the left to download the kit.
If you want more in-depth knowledge about how to make your voice heard, or if you want to explore running for an office (or helping someone else run), the ESPC offers annual trainings for each. Our Citizen Lobbyist Training is coming up on February 15; our Grassroots Campaign School is in June this year. Click on the links to the left to get more information and to register for the Citizen Lobbyist Training.
Finally, to keep up on critical issues as they come up, be sure to sign up for our e-alerts using the button to the right.
