HB 105: Low Income Energy Assistance Program
2006 Budget Session
Sponsor: Rep. Wayne Reese (D-H11, Cheyenne); Co-sponsor Sen. Kathryn Sessions (D-S7, Cheyenne)

HB 105 would have expanded the current low-income energy assistance program for Wyoming residents. The current program is primarily federally funded but administered by the state.
HB 105 would have added state funding to the program so it could be extended to families who earn less that 250% of the federal poverty level. All available federal funds would have been spent before turning to the state funding.
HB 105 would have appropriated $5,538,000 in general funds to pay for the expanded program from now through June 2008, and the Department of Family Services was directed to include a request for funding for the expanded program in their 2009-2010 standard budget request.
After eligibility requirements for the low-income energy assistance program were amended to 215% of the federal poverty level in another bill (HB 124), HB 105 was dropped from consideration by the House Revenue Committee without a vote.
