| RESIST, Inc. backs ESPC
The Equality State Policy Center has been awarded $2,000 by RESIST, Inc., a national progressive foundation that has advocated for social justice for nearly 40 years. The RESIST grant will support the ESPC’s efforts to make Wyoming a more inclusive community by encouraging participation by all citizens in state government and public policy-making, ESPC Executive Director Dan Neal said. “We’re honored by the support of RESIST, a foundation that is a strong supporter of grassroots activism for human rights, social progress, and government accountability,” Neal said. RESIST began in 1967 with a “call to resist illegitimate authority”
in support of draft resistance and opposition to the Vietnam War. Since
the 1960s, it has continued to finance movements for social justice including
civil rights, reproductive rights, women’s rights, economic justice, and
lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender rights. It has evolved over the years
into a national foundation that provides small but timely funding for grassroots
peace and social justice groups. In fiscal year 2005, RESIST gave almost
$282,000 to 136 organizations in the U.S.
The Equality State Policy Center, a broad-based coalition of Wyoming
interests, works through research, public education and advocacy to hold
Wyoming state and local governments accountable to the people they represent,
and to encourage and assist state residents to participate effectively
in public policy decision-making.
