Equality State Policy Center — Mission statement
The Equality State Policy Center, a broad-based coalition of Wyoming interests, works through research, public education and advocacy to hold Wyoming state and local governments accountable to the people they represent; to encourage and assist state residents to participate effectively in public policy decision-making.
Equality State Policy Center — Work
The Equality State Policy Center works in the public policy arena to lift the voices of Wyoming people so policy-makers hear them. Too often, the voices of special interests drown out the public’s voice.
Our work can be divided into three general areas:
- accountable government/civic participation: lobbyist reporting, campaign finance reform, open meetings and public records, legislative process, voter education and mobilization (VOTE Project), citizen lobbyist training;
- tax and fiscal policy: mineral severance taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, tax breaks and tax expenditures, distribution of tax revenues, budget process; and
- Wyoming working families: gender wage gap, minimum wage and living wage, economic self sufficiency, quality child care and education (Step Up for Kids), and access to health care
